6:00 PM – Return to the wetlands base and enjoy a Malaysian-style buffet dinner. Return to the river for a short cruise to catch a glimpse of fireflies slowly lighting up, decorating the mangrove trees and then lighting up the sky. Listen to the crickets singing while you walk back to the coach.

DAY 02: KOTA KINABALU COOKING CLASS – CITY TOUR – HOTEL (Breakfast / Lunch)
Picked up from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu between 9:00 AM – 9:15 AM and proceed straight to the market with your host. You will start your excursion by learning how locals buy their food in a local market or tamu. You will see produce such as meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables, all grown locally for local consumption.
We then proceed to the Host House in one of the villages on the outskirts of the city. Your host family will treat you like family and share their family recipes to cook like a Sabahan. Sit down with the family and enjoy lunch at the house after the cooking lesson.
Thereafter, proceed for a Kota Kinabalu City Tour. Visit Atkinson Clock Tower, one of the most enduring landmarks in Kota Kinabalu, standing prominently on the bluff along Signal Hill Road. Then, visit Signal Hill to enjoy the beautiful city skyline with views extending to the nearby islands.
Next, proceed to one of the city’s most outstanding landmarks – Wisma Tun Mustapha (formerly known as Sabah Foundation Building), popular for its unique architectural design. This sparkling 30-storey tower block is one of the few buildings in the world that utilizes a single column structure, supported by 96 high tensile steel rods.
The tour also includes a photo stop at the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. This majestic white floating mosque boasts similar features to the Nabawi Mosque in Medina. The mosque has a prayer hall which houses three madrasahs and accommodates 9,000 to 12,000 people at a time.
Continue your journey to the Sabah Museum. Explore the traditional houses of Sabah’s ethnic communities at the Heritage Village next to the museum. The last stop will be the Handicraft Market, a place to buy local souvenirs. There is also a nearby market selling local snacks if you wish to try some.
Drop off at your selected hotel for leisure and overnight.
DAY 03: KOTA KINABALU – COUNTRYSIDE BIKE TOUR – HOTEL (Breakfast / Lunch)
The area around the market town of Tamparuli and Tuaran is home to the Dusun tribe. They live spread out in the hills and coastal plains, making use of the natural environment for sustenance. They spend their days farming rice, rubber, fruits and coconuts, as well as hunting in the forests and fishing from the rivers. They are among Asia’s most friendly and resourceful people.
Our day ride takes us through the heartland of the Dusun people. We cycle through small villages, jungle plantations and onto the coastal plain, stopping for lunch at Tuaran town near the Chinese Pagoda. A short ride takes us back to the starting point, followed by a well-earned pat on the back.
Approximately 40% of this ride is on dirt roads, which can be quite rough. The remainder is mostly on small village roads with very little traffic, where you will see smiling village kids, cows and chickens. There are a few hanging bridges to raise the excitement level of the ride.
A support vehicle is always on standby nearby. Drop off at your hotel for overnight.
DAY 04: KOTA KINABALU – PADAS WATER RAFTING – HOTEL (Breakfast / Lunch)
Pick up from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu at 4:00 – 4:30 AM to start your Padas Water Rafting Tour. Enjoy an approximately 2-hour drive to Tenom, a small town in Sabah, passing lush paddy fields and beautiful village settlements.
From Beaufort town, take a 1.5 to 2-hour train ride to Pangi, the starting point. Experience “The Last Train of Borneo”, the oldest train on the island, which travels through jungle and along the gorge, offering glimpses of the river and the thrills to come.
Along the way, stop briefly at Halogilat Station to change trains, then continue to Rayoh Station to store your belongings before proceeding to Pangi Station.
Upon arrival, light refreshments and fresh fruits will be served. A safety briefing will be conducted by a professional river guide and rafting gear will be distributed.
Begin rafting from Pangi and navigate the crashing waves down to Rayoh. Participate in paddling, swimming and body rafting at rapid points along the Padas River. Conquer rapids such as Headhunter, Cobra Point, Washing Machine and Snake House. Witness untouched nature along the riverbanks and soak up the atmosphere.
The adventure ends at Rayoh, followed by a well-earned lunch. After lunch, continue with an antique train ride from Rayoh to Beaufort, then transfer back to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu.
DAY 05: KOTA KINABALU – MENGALUM ISLAND – DEPARTURE (Breakfast / Lunch)
Pick up at 7:15 AM from your hotel lobby and enjoy a 15-minute drive to Marina Jetty. Hop on a 70-minute boat ride to Mengalum Island (subject to sea conditions).
As the seawater changes from navy blue to crystal clear aqua blue, you know you are almost there. Upon arrival, take a short walk to the restaurant area and unload your belongings.
Gear up for snorkeling as you transfer by boat to the house reef for your first snorkeling session. A safety briefing will be given prior to the activity. Continue with a second boat snorkeling session or enjoy swimming around the house reef.
