DAY 01: ARRIVAL SANDAKAN – SELINGAN ISLAND (Lunch / Dinner)

Meet and greet upon arrival at Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan. Proceed to the jetty for an approximately 1-hour boat ride to Selingan Turtle Island, located 40 km north of Sandakan in the Sulu Sea off Sabah’s east coast. Selingan Island is the main nesting ground for Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles.

Upon arrival, check in to your basic accommodation and enjoy lunch at the cafeteria (served from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM). After lunch, enjoy free time at leisure. You may stroll along the beach, sunbathe, swim, or snorkel (at own cost). If weather permits, you may also catch a beautiful sunset.

The Parks Exhibition Hall opens at 6:30 PM, where you will watch an informative video presentation. Dinner is served at the cafeteria at 7:30 PM.

The turtle conservation program begins after dinner. Be prepared, as the park ranger will alert guests when a mother turtle comes ashore to lay eggs. Upon announcement, visitors will follow the ranger quietly to the nesting site to witness the turtle laying her eggs. The eggs will then be collected by the ranger and replanted at the hatchery.

If there are hatchlings on the same night, you will also have the opportunity to witness and participate in the release of baby turtles into the sea—an unforgettable experience.

DAY 02: SELINGAN ISLAND – SEPILOK – SANDAKAN (Breakfast / Lunch)

Breakfast and check out. At 7:00 AM, take an hour-long boat ride back to Sandakan. Upon arrival, transfer to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.

Begin with a short video presentation at the Nature Education Centre, then proceed through the forest to the viewing platform to witness the feeding session. Observe orangutans in their natural habitat and learn about conservation efforts dedicated to protecting these magnificent creatures.

After lunch, continue to the Bornean Sunbear Conservation Centre, where you can observe the world’s smallest bear roaming freely in its forest environment. Informative signboards are displayed along the walkways, and binoculars are available at viewing platforms for closer observation.

Next, visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre, developed by the Sabah Forestry Department to showcase the wonders of the rainforest. Walk along the 347-metre canopy walkway, offering spectacular views from 25 metres above the forest floor. Observe epiphytes, birds, squirrels, and if you are lucky, even wild orangutans. Visit the Plant Discovery Garden before transferring back to your selected hotel or resort for leisure and overnight.

DAY 03: SEPILOK – KINABATANGAN RIVER (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Meet at your hotel lobby and depart for the Kinabatangan River, marking the start of your 3D2N Kinabatangan Wildlife Tour. The journey takes approximately 2–3 hours, passing through rustic countryside scenery.

Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy welcome refreshments followed by a briefing on resort facilities, routes, and safety procedures. Check in to your room.

At 4:00 PM, embark on an exciting river cruise in search of wildlife such as Proboscis Monkeys, Orangutans, Silver Leaf Monkeys, Macaques, crocodiles, and various bird species. Cruise along the mighty Kinabatangan River and marvel at the abundance of wildlife along its banks.

During certain seasons, you may even spot the Borneo Pygmy Elephant, the smallest elephant species in the world. The river is also home to all eight species of hornbills found in Borneo.

Dinner will be served at the lodge. Overnight at your accommodation.

DAY 04: KINABATANGAN RIVER – DAY 02 (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and forest birds. Set off on an early morning river cruise to search for birds and wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast.

Later, enjoy a guided jungle trek (approximately one hour) within the resort area to learn more about the rainforest ecosystem. Return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy free time at leisure.

In the late afternoon, embark on another river cruise along Sabah’s longest river to further explore one of Borneo’s most important and unique rainforest habitats. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Overnight at your accommodation.

DAY 05: KINABATANGAN RIVER – SANDAKAN AIRPORT (Breakfast)

Rise early for a final early morning river cruise to observe more wildlife and birdlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast.

Check out and depart at 8:00 AM for your transfer back to Sandakan Airport, marking the end of your memorable wildlife adventure.
