Perfect for travelers seeking authentic experiences beyond the usual tourist trail.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN BINTULU – HOTEL

Upon arrival at Bintulu Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Bintulu is a town rich in history. Originally a small fishing village and part of the Brunei Sultanate, it gained historical significance in 1867 when it hosted the first-ever meeting of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly. The discovery of offshore natural gas reserves in the 1960s later transformed Bintulu into a vital center for Malaysia’s oil and gas industry. Today, the town offers travelers a blend of industrial heritage and natural attractions, including national parks and scenic beaches.

Overnight in Bintulu.

DAY 02: BINTULU – BAKUN DAM – FLOATING HOMESTAY (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

After breakfast, begin the journey to the Bakun Dam area with a four-hour drive (approximately 206 km) from Bintulu town to Bakun Jetty. From there, enjoy a scenic 30–40 minute boat ride to the Belanum (Jelatong) Floating House.

The highlight of the day is staying at a floating house on the vast Bakun Reservoir. Covering approximately 695 square kilometers—about the size of Singapore—the reservoir was created by the world’s second-tallest concrete-faced rock-filled dam. It is an angler’s paradise, home to indigenous fish species such as Ikan Baong (catfish) and the highly prized Semah.

For non-anglers, activities include swimming, picnicking by a nearby river, jungle trekking, bird watching, or leisurely cruising across the reservoir.
Overnight at the Floating Homestay.

DAY 03: BAKUN DAM – MIRI CITY TOUR – HOTEL (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

After breakfast, depart Bakun Dam for Miri City. The journey covers approximately 285.5 km and takes around 4.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

Upon arrival in Miri, enjoy lunch at a local café before commencing the city tour. Highlights include the Grand Old Lady, Malaysia’s first oil well, and the Petroleum Museum atop Canada Hill. Explore local culture at Tamu Muhibbah Market and the Handicraft Centre, or visit the historic Tua Pek Kong Temple.

For leisure and relaxation, you may stroll through Miri City Fan Recreation Park, enjoy seaside views at Coco Cabana, or discover Miri’s growing street art scene. After the tour, transfer to your selected hotel for check-in and overnight.

DAY 04: MARUDI DAY TRIP – MIRI (Breakfast)

After breakfast, meet at the hotel lobby for a 1.5-hour overland journey to the inland town of Marudi, passing through vast oil palm plantations along the way.

In Marudi, sample traditional local delicacies such as Marudi Kueh Tiaw, charcoal bread, and Nyonya cakes. Visit Royal Hill and Fort Hose, a historic monument that now serves as the Baram District Museum, showcasing White Rajah history as well as indigenous textiles and handicrafts. Continue with a visit to the century-old Da Bo Gong Temple.

At noon, enjoy local specialties including fish balls and fish cakes made from freshwater river fish, along with the town’s famous prawns. Return to Miri in the late afternoon for leisure and overnight.
